War on terror is similar to what was in the past a Cold War, Cuban crisis etc. US is a super power and Pakistan being an ally in war against terrorism is not going to change its course or policy when the new government is formed and functioning. Policy and friendship will remain the same only the wording in the media will change. Media will be busy giving news pro or anti US or some against the policies of Pakistani government of new set up though President will still be playing his political role in world affairs and also at home. There is no change whatsoever in the policy of US or Pakistan as far as the continuation of war on terror is concerned. This will carry on as it is but US being neighbor of Pakistan got to keep their forces on the border to protect the border. There is no worry that US will attack on Pakistan because the involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan has broken the backbone of US economy and another front will not be in the best interests of US. Why US did not attack Iran because its not going to give them any monetary advantage. Petrol prices so high and any attack on Iran would trigger the OIL prices up to $300 a barrel. US economy will be in tatters if it happens that is out of question . North Korea is not listening to US knowing that having so many fronts will cripple US economy even further. Pakistan got nothing to worry about an attack from US. Political alliances are not changed over night American presence in that region will not be helpful without the support of Pakistan. Its a give and take with US and some aid is given which is not much but still enough to maintain Pakistani forces on the border. Its a huge contingent and expensive to carry on how long depends on the ties with US and its further objectives though nothing has so far been achieved by US in Afghanistan. Taleban are not going to surrender and its no win sitution though there are many thousand Allied forces as well but not in danger zones. Keeping far away from Taleban is not going to achieve much for US, though Americans are not there to win anything just to keep their presence felt in that region. With the fast growing of Republic of China some experts in US think that its better for their future objectives to be there no matter what price they have to pay. Time will tell how they keep their presence there for longer period because its already hurting US economy. Pakistan got nothing to worry about they are safe and sound with Nuclear weapons and no one will attack on their soil its an advantage to have Nuclear weapons.
