The War, the Truth, and the New York Times

Now that every one and Charlie’s aunt knows of the crimes of America’s ruling cabal, how about finally asking to bring out the hangman’s ropes?

media_monkeys.jpgSo finally the truth is acknowledged by the mother of all main stream media, the New York Times.

The June 6 editorial, ‘The Truth About the War’ of the media giant begins with these words, “It took just a few months after the United States’ invasion of Iraq for the world to find out that Saddam Hussein had long abandoned his nuclear, biological and chemical weapons programs. He was not training terrorists or colluding with Al Qaeda. The only real threat he posed was to his own countrymen.” That it took more than five years for the leading light of a servile American media to finally find it out, is a fact glossed over most shamelessly.

Truth told late is worse than a murderous lie, is all that one can say to the NYT. It is a dishonest admission coming rather late for a million plus human beings. The icing on this deceitful piece of reporting is the ending of the Op-Ed. It says, “We cannot say with certainty whether Mr. Bush lied about Iraq. But when the president withholds vital information from the public - or leads them to believe things that he knows are not true - to justify the invasion of another country, that is bad enough.”

BAD ENOUGH! Did I read it right? That’s it? BAD ENOUGH! Would you believe it? A million murdered Iraqis, 4000 dead US soldiers, obliterated Iraqi cities, DU shot-up environment, countless crippled and maimed human beings, innumerable shattered lives and how does the NYT express its outrage; by calling it ‘bad enough’? “Sorry mommy, I just killed a million people.” “That’s bad. Don’t do that again, now eat your spinach” eh? Bad enough!? Someone hand me the sick bag please.

Every canon of the United Nations and the 1945 Nuremberg Charters, the International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Conventions has been shot to doll rags by this criminal cabal in its willful, premeditated genocide of an innocent people and what does the American media leviathan call it? Bad enough!?

Not just the international laws, in the US Law itself all jurisdictions which use capital punishment designate the highest grade of murder a capital crime. What’s more, even aggravated rape is a capital crime in Louisiana, Florida, and Oklahoma; extortionate kidnapping in Oklahoma; aggravated kidnapping in Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky and South Carolina; aircraft hijacking in Alabama; drug trafficking resulting in a person’s death in Connecticut; train wrecking which leads to a person’s death, and perjury which leads to a person’s death in California. And here, the wanton destruction of a whole country and annihilation of its innocent citizens is merely ‘bad enough’ for the New York Times?

How about finally telling the Americans the fact that they were used as pawns in the ghastly drama played amidst decomposing Iraqi corpses. How about finally reporting the horrendous crime committed by the US forces in the Iraqi city of Fallujah? How about informing the Americans that the city was bombed, re-bombed, its citizens gunned down, its structures devastated by powerful weapons till it was nothing but a hell on earth of crushed bodies, shattered buildings and the reek of death?

How about giving them the eyewitnesses’ testimony that reported human corpses littering Fallujah’s streets, nibbled at by starving canines and parents forced to watch their wounded children die and then bury their bodies in their gardens? Why not finally tell the Americans an Iraqi journalist’s exact report to the BBC and Reuters: “I have seen some strange things recently, such as stray dogs snatching bites out of bodies lying on the streets. Meanwhile, people forage in their gardens looking for something to eat. Those that have survived this far are looking gaunt. The opposite is happening to the dead, left where they fell, they are now bloated and rotting…”?

How about publishing on the front page, the ghastly images from Abu Ghuraib, including the thuggish grinning faces of Specialists Sabrina Harman and Charles Garner peering out with an evil force, each offering a “thumbs-up” gesture as if posing for a pride of performance award with an ice packed corpse of an innocent, tortured to death Iraqi in the background? How about ordering an investigative report into America’s torture trail that, from Uzbekistan and Pakistan to Guantanamo Bay, weaves across the globe? How about finally checking out what the American officials affectionately called ‘the renditions’? How about running on the front page a video called “Hadji Girl” in which just a few of the lyric lines go as;

I grabbed her little sister and put her in front of me,
As the bullets began to fly,
The blood sprayed from between her eyes,
And then I laughed maniacally. . .
I blew those little f**ckers to eternity . . .
They should have known they were f**king with the Marines.

How about finally informing the Americans that not just the murder of a million plus human beings, their rulers also stand accused of bullying unilateralism, dismissive approach towards international treaties, rude attitude towards other nations and cultures, and disrespect for institutions of the world government?

How about finally admitting that the real lesson of the current American onslaught on a defenseless, but oil rich, people is nothing other than that there is no limit to the horrors that the ruling American class will inflict to stay in power and gobble up the fast dwindling world resources; that as long as the American nation continues to tolerate these leaders, who make lies seem true and slaughter respectable, mass carnage will continue to be committed in their name?

How about highlighting in bold letters American historian Howard Zinn’s quote that says, “There is no flag large enough to cover the shame of killing innocent people“? How about becoming the vanguard of a movement to expose the ugly truth of America’s wars and informing the Americans that these wars are waged for nothing other than corporate power, global conquest, death, destruction and oppression? How about pursuing relentlessly the murderous charlatans who still strut about on the national and international scenes?

Now that every one and Charlie’s aunt knows of the crimes of America’s ruling cabal, how about finally asking to bring out the hangman’s ropes?

How about it, eh New York Times? Pray, tell us.

    Like a mother who can never believe that her own flesh and blood is criminal, so do the supporters of current American administration. I still have hopes in Americans though, should they wake up.

    thanks for the fine article Anwaar.

    the amerikan people are ignorant and childlike. most do not have a clue about the horror they are responsible for in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. most consider amerika to be the exceptionally good, morally right country. most don’t realize they are living in what is the most advanced police state on Earth. Anyway, in short, most amerikans are insane; reality alludes them at every level and they live a life dictated to them by the govt. most amerikans don’t seem to care about the murder and chaos they have created; they just don’t give a damn. what is truly interesting is how the amerikan people can cut their own throats and smile while doing it; shows how out of touch they really are.

    if the world expects justice to prevail then the world may be very disapointed. the murderous hate-filled bush/cheney gang will continue to murder and destroy untill the last day in office. then they will ride away into the sunset and live out their lives in peace and harmony. their legacy of death will continue and that part of humanity that is not being murdered, and raped and robbed will continue their complicity. the murder will continue until humanity turns on the bushes and the cheneys and stops them in their tracks.

    i don’t have a crystal ball but there is no evidence that the murder and destruction will stop when the bush/cheney gang leave office.

    Anwaar Hussain makes a point —but—the New York Times copyrighted stories with Judith Miller’s by-line on its front pages participated in the fabrication of the lies prior to the United States invasion of Iraq.

    During the occupation of Iraq, Judith Miller was providing grist for the mill of the occupation as the New York Times copyrighted her fabrications as a reporter embedded with the United States occupying forces.—–BILL

    Instead………. the US system is about to embark on an even more bold move as the US and Israel attack Iran. Goering and Gobbells……… ministers of propaganda for the Third Reich, were rewarded when the Sudatenland was similarly “freed.”

    When a small, near-defenseless dog barks (Iran)……. most people understand that the dog is simply frightened into showing some aggression.

    But when a very large dog with sharp fangs (Israel) growls………. most people understand that the dog is ready to attack……… even if not provoked……….. That is the dog, who is using its killing instincts, looking for an excuse to attack and bite savagely.

    Our US press media……….. fails to inform the American public that Israel has over 150 nuclear weapons ……… paid for by US tax dollars. These are twice as many as France and more than three times as many as China. The US press will not point out the dichotomy that Israel is an uninspected and undeclared NUCLEAR ARMED power………and a nation that will not tolerate any other country in the MiddleEast challenging Israel by having the audacity
    to be able to strike back at Israel………..if Israel seeks to destroy that nation.

    What is absurd to the point of being humorous…….. is that while the US is now suffering from high gasoline prices……… that Israel does not express even the slightest concern that its own actions have hurt the American people. Israel has not expressed the slightest concern that a war Israel starts might cut off fuel supplies to the US.

    Instead, the Israeli government leaders just arrived in the US to DEMAND newer fighter jets that are just being deployed to the US Air Force and are in short supply. So short is the supply, that two US Air Force generals were fired by the civilian Secretary of Defense, Bill Gates, for balking about arming Israel to a further degree……. when its own fleet of the newest jets is in short supply.

    Israel FIRST!

    Israel ALWAYS!

    Israel ONLY!

    If the American people only knew that their government has been taken over by this foreign power…….. and their nation is dangerously weaker for it…….and the American economy is poorer for the financial ripoff…….. the average citizen would react.

    But like mushrooms……… the American people are kept in the dark….. where they feel safe.

    Senator McCain stated that he would like to see a man on Mars. I hope we can accomodate his dream ……. and make him the first one on Mars…….. and perhaps invite Bush and the other war criminals along for the ride.

    I had an old-acquaintance soldier get back from Iraq the other day. I dare not call him a friend. He taught me a new term for what “nightly security missions” they conducted………. breaking into houses……. and killing all within……..no prisoners and no questions asked.

    They call it: “stepping on crickets.”

    So if you see that insider phrase in this invasion of Iraq………….. you will now understand how we see the Iraqis from the military perspective.

    The Israeli military would be so proud of us!

    He actually laughed when I queried about, “you were breaking into a known location of AlQueda?”

    He responded by saying………. “the US politicians and military no longer cares who they kill……. ‘just get the numbers of US soldiers dying to a low point.’ Be the baddest cop…….. the toughest guy on the block…….. make everyone so afraid to go outside….. we don’t care who we kill. The foot soldiers all want to leave that damn hot place. It is so boring with nothing to do. So you bank your salary…….because there is no place to spend it……. and have fun shooting the shit out of Iraqis at night. Thank goodness for night vision goggles. You know…… most of the firefights are from less than 10 feet……” he chuckled.

    He later added: “before we go out…….. we get the guys wired up by playing violent video games on a large screen tv in the evening. It lessens the emotional attachment when you step on those bugs.”

    Blame common americans for all these atrocities committed in their name? Sure. But how about all those bigwigs across USA, who were either directly involved in this conspiracy or those who knew the truth and deliberately failed to apprise their countrymen of this truth. How about that great pillar of democracy;the senate? We did not have a single courageous, God fearing, honest to his people senator who vehemently protested against this barbarity? Or did we? Did we miss out on any concerted effort by Republicans or Democrats, denouncing or resisting such a savagery? I guess not. I am appalled by cover up of such a large scale. To be exact, I don’t foresee any justice meted out to the perpetrators in near future.

    Hi Anwaar

    I just finished reading your article - you have certainly arrived at another level of writing! I have never read anything written with that intensity, use of mental pictures through words! I had a physical reaction to it while reading …. short of breath, so terribly angry and, I think, a feeling which must be how people with high blood pressure feel, when it spikes. I am going to cut and paste it and send it around to heads of groups around the world.

    This IS OUTSTANDING - thank you Anwaar. You are a unique talent, which of course doesn’t take you far without work and determination!

    Once again - thank you, it was a true experience to read.

    Actually, we did. Senator Byrd made a fine speech against this war of aggression on Iraq. And 23 US Senators (all but one Democrats) voted against it. Same story in the US House of Representatives, but as we know - the war of aggression went forward anyway.

    And there is no flag big enough to cover our shame, which is why I will not stand and do a pledge of allegiance to our flag.

    By the way, the Bilderberg group met last weekend and likely picked the Vice presidental candidates for 2008. If you don’t know about them, I recommend finding out - they are the ones running things, not the US Congress or the American people. By the way, the US press won’t cover them because (I imagine) they were told not to do so.

    I am going to put up part of this commentary on my own blog.

    Telling it like it is, under World Capitalism’s 5% tiny minority ruling class dictatorship. Where private ownership and monopoly of Mainstream media and nearly everything else, provides a monopoly of money and lies. Where brute force is used to expand and protect the privileged Ghouls interests of endless capital expansion through exploiting everything where profits can be extracted.

    Particularly the 95% historically dispossesed working-class of the world. Depriving them of the values of their labors and natural right to the resources of the lands and seas from which we humans evolved.

    The Capitalists actively condon and pay indoctrinated workers to commit genocide, maiming and torture of innocent humans who happen to live in areas of interest to the Capitalist Class. To continue their ever driven expansion of material wealth and power over people. In the false name of Freedom, Democracy and God given rights to mercilessly exploit the weak, rape the earth and destroy the atmosphere.

    Fortunately the technology under Capitalism has evolved recently which is fast replacing the Capitalist’s old MSM monopoly giving rise to a new awareness that can lead to a real democracy among humanity which must be communally protected and expanded upon. To enable a new NOT FOR PROFIT border-less world of peaceful common ownership, mutual respect and ALL production democratically geared to the interest of providing a world worthwhile for all humanity without discrimination.

    Excellent article but I note that you neglected to name the jew as the engineer of this tragedy. America is a colony of Israel populated by a stupefied, dumbed down mass of air wasters who are incapable of rational thought. The sooner it expires, the safer the world will be.

    Well the article was great, and several comments worthy, but the facts we need to face are not really talked about by anyone.
    1. The entire press of the USA was bought and paid for by rich capitalists and refused to do their jobs, and report the truth.
    2. Senator Byrd did indeed stand up against the war crazies and speak to the lies of the Bush Junta, and believe me, he wasn’t the only American who knew the truth. I knew the truth, most of my friends knew the truth, and anyone who bothered to seek the truth, also could have known the truth, the UN Weapons inspectors were telling us the truth. The fact is most Americans didn’t care, and they only care now because their jobs are disappearing and their gas is expensive. Our people are insular, spoiled, disinterested and dull, intellectually lazy and callous. They believe that the World still owes us for “saving democracy” in the Second World War, and the only thing they care about in regard to foreign nations is; where is it the most picturesque, and where are the best parties. We have become Imperial Rome, and our people Romans. No lies of “we didn’t know” will do, we all knew or closed our eyes so as to avoid acknowledging the facts.

    Finally to those who spout their racism here about Jews or other people being responsible, you are morally bankrupt and part of the problem, not the solution, as racism has been the number one tool used to teach Americans that it is OK to kill strangers and those different from them. Fact, Orthodox Jews were the first group to protest against Israels Actions in Gaza and The West Bank, and inspite of their perceptions Jews make up less than 5% of the worlds business and capitalist leaders, including bankers.
    In addition, Bilderbergers, Illuminati, Free Masons, Jesuits, The Papacy, and all of the other boogey men are mere covers for the truth, it is ourselves and our neighbors who are responsible for this, these groups would have no power, if we didn’t keep giving them our money!!!!!!!!!!
