The Fall of the Roaming Empire

by Anwaar Hussain

The American imperial behemoth finally lies panting at the sandaled feet of its nemesis, the ragtag resistance fighters, in the sands of Iraq and Afghanistan. Desperate attempts are on by the deniers to infuse new life into the flagging leviathan but alas, it is dying as sure a death as that of its masters’ dream. Albeit hideously so, even its death is promising to be spectacular. For the event will scatter far and wide, bits and pieces of the myth of American supremacy and the delusion of an empire.

Nothing can be sadder than the fact that a country that welcomed to its bosom victims of the abuse of other powers for centuries, finally became the greatest abuser of power itself. And in so doing, wrote its own epitaph. Read more

The IgnoramUS

Most Americans don’t know that back in November 1999 when George W Bush, the then Republican frontrunner in the United States presidential elections, was subjected to a little foreign policy quiz by a Boston TV, he did not know the names of two leaders, among others, who represented about one-fifth of humanity…the leaders of Pakistan and India.

Most Americans don’t know that such was the state of the awareness of a man about to be handed over the reins of the most awesome military machine of the most powerful country on planet earth and let loose upon the world.

Most Americans don’t know that their country’s foreign policy has been held hostage to the wellbeing of the state of Israel for the past about four decades and all the world’s major crisis, including the so called ‘war on Terror’, can be traced, one way or the other, to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and America’s extremely partisan Israel-centric role in that. Bring Out the Nails

by Anwaar Hussain

Bring out the nails to be hammered into the coffin of the fast approaching death of the dream of American Empire which has started to wane badly in its staging outposts of Afghanistan and Iraq. Bring out the nails.

Bring out the nails because in Afghanistan, the first Neo-colony of the American Neo-Conservatives, the Taliban are on the rise a la the fabled phoenix rising from the ashes and where they once again control most parts of southern Afghanistan openly setting up shadow administrations there and where the coalition forces are getting a beating of their lives from the rag tag Taliban and where the whining and griping among the coalition forces over their looming defeat is increasing with each passing day and where on the Pakistani side too, the supremo General Musharraf has beaten a hasty retreat from the bordering Waziristan rather than trying to reinforce failure. Bring out the nails.

Bring out the nails because, drunk with delusions of grandeur and self-adulation, the Empire seekers made a bad choice in Afghanistan as the launching pad of their dream by ignoring the warning of Sir Olaf Caroe, the last British governor of North West Frontier Province of bordering Pakistan, who said: “Unlike other wars, Afghan wars become serious only when they are over.” Bring out the nails. Toward the Garden of Eden

by Anwaar Hussain

fengjing03-300.jpg
All indicators are that the rapidly emerging global civilization is here and here to stay, the teething-pains resistance offered by nationalistic, patriotic or religious forces not withstanding. The beginning of a global society may now be considered unavoidable.

Trends other than the American Neoconservative led Empire building gamble, like the growing integration of the world’s economies and their increasing inter-dependence, the ever-rising blending of international social and cultural systems, and the proliferation of space-shrinking new technologies, are the prima facie confirmation of this new reality.

Will this new age, when it does finally get on toward its absolute shape, eventually embody humanity’s darkest fears or its most cherished hopes? Will it be our eternal Garden of Eden or will we have created a hell on earth forever to live in. Read more

We, the Men of planet earth join together in this Universal Declaration against Our common enemy, You , the Women of this same planet. Be informed.

We the Men proudly declare that violating You in every imaginable way is THE ONLY, hear this, THE ONLY cause that binds Us in a universal brotherhood cutting right across racial, religious, national and ethnic boundaries. This fact, We celebrate.

We the Men declare that We will continue to rape You, mutilate You, disfigure You by acid burning, sell You into lives of slavery and prostitution, kill You in the wombs at Your conception, or for Our honor later in Your adulthood. This undertaking, We promise.

Nine-Eleven, Manna from Heaven

by Anwaar Hussain

This 9/11, as the swirling ashes of the twin towers continue to fall far and wide, it will be full five years since the start of American Inquisition. 9/11, that heinous crime that should have been registered that same evening in the nearest NYPD precinct for a relentless hunt for the criminals by that precinct’s homicide detectives to begin, has rather turned out to be Manna from Heaven for the flag bearers of American Inquisition.

Over a period of time, the word ‘inquisition’ has been taken as restricted to Spain in the Middle Ages only. But if one wants to explain the dangerous mix of religious prejudice, Christian holy war, Islamic jihad, ethnic profiling, racism, mock trials and eavesdropping by secret police, no other term comes to mind. Not only that, like Spanish Inquisition’s export abroad, the American one too now abounds in far flung corners of the earth. Torturing of the victims in secret dungeons remains the same as well. Missing are the burnings at the stakes, but given the hideous wonders that white phosphorous can do to human flesh in far lesser time, who requires that inefficient procedure any more.
